Sunday is Father's Day. Don't have a gift yet? No worries! Because with this last-minute tip, you'll score points with the sweetest dad (or husband) in the world—and it's not that hard. What do you need? A few simple ingredients and a generous helping of love. We're going to make a real English breakfast!
A breakfast with character
Whenever we're in Newcastle on the DFDS Minicruise – and that's quite often – we always stop by The Cloister Café, right next to the magnificent St Mary's Cathedral. It's such a cozy, old-fashioned spot where the aroma of fried bacon and toast greets you from the sidewalk. And breakfast there? A treat that will make even the toughest guy swoon. So why not bring that feeling home on Father's Day?
No joke, The Cloister Café is truly my happy place.

What belongs on the plate?
A traditional English breakfast is rich, warm, and comforting. Perfect for starting Father's Day. Here's what you'll need, exactly as pictured:
- 2 well-cooked sausages (chipolata will do)
- 2 slices of bacon (nice and crispy)
- 1 scrambled or fried egg (however he likes it best)
- A generous scoop of baked beans (white beans in tomato sauce)
- Fried mushrooms
- A grilled tomato (fry it briefly with the mushrooms, don't make it too complicated :))
- Toast with butter and jam
- Ketchup and brown sauce on the side (optional)
Serve it all on a nice plate, give dad a (Guinness) beer and Bob's your uncle .

Done in a flash, so cozy
Or make a pot of strong tea or fresh coffee, decorate the tray with a napkin, and perhaps a handwritten note. You'll see: the effect is enormous. A father waking up to the smell of sausages and toast? That's guaranteed to bring a smile to his face with the first bite.
More than food
A breakfast like this is more than just a plate of food. It's a moment of attention, of togetherness. And secretly, a little bit of England in your own kitchen. And let's be honest, isn't that much more fun than socks?!
