This month in the spotlight: Atelier Blaauw
At Atelier Blaauw, you won't find run-of-the-mill jewelry, but true statement pieces with soul. Founder Marlies transforms sterling silver and gemstones into small works of art that are more than just beautiful; they tell a story and carry memories. Using the rare wire wrapping technique, she handcrafts each piece with a precision and love you can feel the moment you open the box. What began with stringing beads has grown into a globally beloved collection full of meaning. Atelier Blaauw is more than just a jewelry brand; it's true craftsmanship made with love.

How did you come up with the idea to start your store and/or webshop?
I've been a jewelry lover my whole life, and I've been making jewelry since I was a toddler. As a child, I used to string beads, and later I started burning my own glass beads, but gradually I discovered my passion: making wire-wrap jewelry from sterling silver, fine silver, or 14k gold-filled wire with gemstones.
What is your current favorite product and why?
Wire wrap pendants with gemstones are truly my favorite; I have quite a collection myself. I especially love pendants with labradorite , rainbow moonstone , or Australian opal; they create a beautiful, enchanting flash.
What do you enjoy most about running your online store?
Working with my hands. Designing and making jewelry that truly brings joy to people. But I also value the connection with my customers. I like to go the extra mile. If someone gives a piece of jewelry as a gift and wants a card with a short personal message, I make sure it's beautifully and thoughtfully included. These are small gestures, but they're what make it special. The reactions I receive afterward make my day. I make the jewelry, but the connection behind it makes it truly meaningful.

How do you keep your webshop/collection interesting for your customers?
I ensure my collection continues to evolve. I work with gemstones and freshwater pearls that speak to me at the moment, and that's how I continually create new pieces. This way, there's always something new to discover. I also regularly share background stories, work photos, and glimpses into my process on social media @atelierblaauw . This makes it personal and demonstrates the care and attention that goes into each piece. This keeps it vibrant and engaging, both for me and my clients.
What do you think of Happlify? And why are you and your shop on Happlify?
I think Happlify is a wonderful place where webshops come together with care and a unique story. It feels like a cheerful showcase full of little discoveries. I love being part of it because it reflects who I am and what I make. People who visit Happlify take the time to find something special, and that aligns perfectly with my jewelry.
Is there anything else interesting we should know about your webshop?
I design jewelry that's unlike any other. Each piece is handmade, so no two pendants or earrings are exactly alike. I carefully select my gemstones from renowned companies, based on their appearance and color, so each piece has its own unique character. When you wear a piece of jewelry from Atelier Blaauw , you're wearing something truly special. Something crafted with care, that exudes individuality, and that you can enjoy wearing every day.
