2024 is coming again. New year, new opportunities, right? Do you already have good intentions? Live healthier, exercise more, stop smoking, drink less alcohol... you know the ones.
The trick with good intentions is that you don't have too many. If you limit yourself to a few good intentions, you are much more likely to stick with them. Write them down, talk about them with people who believe in you, be happy with every step in the right direction and celebrate the successes in between. These are 10 of the most popular New Year's resolutions:
- to fall off
- quit smoking
- more sports and exercise
- drink less alcohol
- make less pressure
- take yoga classes or meditate
- save money
- travel more often
- spend more time with family and friends
- change jobs
Point three always remains a recurring issue here. The beginning is there, but I still fail to maintain my newly invented sports ritual for a whole year. Yoga, gym, cycling, running, everything has been covered, but nothing has stuck. And yes, what should you do?
Want to move smarter without noticing?
Well look, the good news is that you can unknowingly exercise more without immediately taking up a new sport! Here are three useful tips:
- Travel smarter . It's not always possible. But if possible: take the train (partially), take your bike or walk to work, school or appointment. You then move more unnoticed. According to the NS, you can easily exercise 30 minutes a day if you travel by public transport (see also: www.reisjefit.nl).
- Give me a round . Do you work with more people in one place? Get coffee or tea regularly for your colleagues and yourself. She's happy, you're happy! Do you work alone? Make sure your coffee or tea is not too close, then you will walk more. You give your mind a mini break and get your body moving.
- Stand up . Do you have a sedentary job? Stand up! To be able to stand again and especially move while standing while reading or writing, you can use a sit/stand desk. Or take a look at www.upstaa.com.
Finally
Good intentions are a good idea and therefore very feasible, but have you already closed the old year? And by that I mean really left behind by looking back on all the highlights and events? This can be done very nicely with the Time Capsule from this Time Capsule blog post . This allows you to preserve the memory of the past year and express your wishes and goals for the fresh new year.
